Belleek is made in County Fermanagh, Ireland, and is fine parian ware. The firm was founded in 1858 by John Caldwell Bloomfield owner of the Castlecaldwell estate. The estate encompassed the village of Belleek. With tenants experiencing significant poverty after the potato famine, Bloomfield was keen to explore other ways of developing employment. A keen minerologist, the discovery of suitable raw material veins on the estate (feldspar, kaolin, flint, clay and shale), enabled the Firm to be established, provide local employment and thrive.
