George and Henry Elkington originated silver plate, patenting the technology in the 1830s. In 1868 Queen Victoria instructed the Royal silver to be copied by Elkingtons. This was followed by many of the reigning families in Europe instructing Elkingtons to copy nationally important silver items in silver plate.
The firm is known for hand-crafted excellence.
